Transformer Winding Resistance Tester is a specialized instrument used to measure the resistance of transformer windings (both high-voltage and low-voltage sides). Transformer DC resistance is a must-test item for the semi-finished product, finished product factory test,installation, handover test and preventive test of the power sector in the transformer manufacturing.

What is transformer tan delta tester ?

Transformer Tan Delta Tester is a specialized electrical testing instrument used to assess the insulation condition of a transformer. It measures tan delta, also known as the dissipation factor (DF), Loss Angle or power factor, which indicates the dielectric losses in the insulation system.

What is the Purpose of Testing DC Resistance of the Transformer or Motor Winding?

Testing the DC resistance of transformer or motor windings helps detect issues such as shorted turns, loose connections, or damaged conductors. It ensures that the winding resistance is within design specifications for proper operation. Significant deviations may indicate overheating, corrosion, or poor manufacturing. This test also verifies the integrity of tap changers and winding connections. Besides, it is a key step in preventive maintenance and quality assurance.

Does your equipment comply with international standards like IEC and IEEE?

Yes. Our instruments are designed and manufactured to comply with the relevant international standards, such as IEC 60076 for power transformers and IEEE C57.12. Winding resistance tester can adopt the “step current method,” which involves initially applying a low current—typically around 20% of the rated test current—to establish a magnetic field. The current is then gradually increased to the rated level (e.g., 1A, 5A, or 10A). This helps minimize the impact of the inductive energy storage process.

In addition, the tester is equipped with an automatic arc suppression circuit, which reduces the effect of back electromotive force (EMF) during current switching and prevents pointer jitter.

By enabling the “fast stabilization mode,” the tester uses intelligent algorithms to predict the final stable resistance value. When the rate of change in the measured value falls below 0.05% per second, the reading is automatically locked. These combined techniques can reduce the stabilization time from the conventional 3–5 minutes to under 1 minute for transformers rated above 1000 kVA
